What is Permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is the fastest growing treatment in the beauty industry. For years it's been a well kept secret of celebrities, but you may not have realised because when it is done well you really can't tell.
Permanent makeup is sometimes referred to as semi-permanent makeup or micro pigmentation. It should not be confused with traditional tattooing methods, which use completely different pigments and processes, and go far deeper into the skin.
Treatments are performed using a highly specialised machine that carefully implants hypoallergenic, pharmaceutical grade pigment gently into the skin for truly fantastic results.
Why Use Permanent Makeup?
Time is a precious commodity these days, whether you're a busy parent, work long hours, or you just have a super busy schedule. Permanent makeup is the ultimate time saving tool and not just at the start of the day... remember we also have to spend time taking it off at the end of the day too! It can make you look fresh 24/7, make you look younger and help you to look your best even when traditional makeup is not possible, like when you go swimming or to the gym.
It can also help if you find putting/keeping on your makeup more difficult, due to things like poor eyesight, allergies, watery eyes, physical limitations or impaired motor skills that can make it an impossible task without help.

What are the Benefits?
You can literally present the version of your everyday self that gives you the most confidence with minimal effort. But it's not just about saving time. Anyone who wears makeup knows that the longer it's on the more prone it is to smudging, running and general wear and tear throughout the day. This means you may have to reapply or leave it looking less than desirable, thus defeating the point of applying it in the first place!
Permanent makeup can provide huge benefits if you have suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment, trichotillomania, alopecia or the natural ageing process by restoring some self confidence as you go through your journey.

Say goodbye to those tiresome morning routines and look amazing 24/7 with minimal effort!
PERMANENT MAKEUP TREATMENTS
TESTIMONIALS
-
Does it hurt?By far the most common question! Rest assured, mild topical anaesthetic is applied to the area up to 30 minutes prior to your treatment. Then a secondary anaesthetic is applied during the procedure so that any discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum. At most you may feel a light scratching sensation. I can safely say it is nothing like a traditional tattoo, which would be quite painful on the face.
-
How permanent is it exactly?Your permanent makeup can be visible for anywhere between 2-6 years, but it will fade over time due to sun exposure, genetics and other factors. The colours I use are highly stable so any fading will remain true to the original colour you first chose. The pigment will simply lighten without any discolouration (no strange pink/orange and blue!). To maintain the strength of the colour, it is recommended that you have a colour boost every 12-18 months.
-
How long will it take? Most procedures take around two hours. Lip blushing can take slightly longer, as can a full brow reconstruction (for my beautiful clients who have little to no eyebrow hair). If you suffer from anxiety, or are particularly nervous about having it done, I like to allow a little more time so that we can go through the process at your own pace, with breaks if needed.
-
How many treatments do I need? For optimum results, two sessions are usually required for most treatments. This is because the colour is built up gently, minimising trauma to the skin. I offer a free top up session 6-8 weeks after your first treatment. This allows me to perfect your look, make any tweaks and go a little darker if you choose.

Do I need a full consultation? It depends on you and what you need. If you are very, very nervous, highly anxious or are concerned in any way about your treatment then I'd recommend a face-to-face consultation to put your mind at ease. Your patch test will also be carried during this consultation. If you live far away, or have just a few questions and queries then I am more than happy to do your consultation over the phone, video call or via email. With this option your patch test can be sent to you via post for you to carry out yourself at home (with instructions).
-
Do I need a patch test? You must have a patch test at least 12 hours before your procedure. This is for your own safety to check for any allergic reactions to the products being used (which are extremely rare). Your patch test will be performed during a face-to-face consultation or can be sent by post with instructions.

What happens during the procedure?First we will apply your topical anaesthetic allowing at least 30 minutes for it to take effect. During this time we will complete your paperwork and draw in your semi-permanent eyebrows, eyeliner or lip-liner in pencil. I will ensure you are 100% happy with the design, shape, and colour before starting the treatment. I will then gently implant the pigment using a specialised machine or microblade (depending on your chosen treatment). To ensure the highest quality of the treatment, each stage will be documented using photographs.

Can I still have a treatment if I have fillers/collagen?Absolutely; a well done lip-filler can look amazing when combined with a lip-blush for the perfect finishing touch. It is advisable to wait six weeks between procedures. Please contact me for information regarding fillers and other aesthetics procedures. I happen to work with an exceptionally talented aesthetics practitioner named Sarah Louise, who trained at Harley street and is one of the best in her field. I am currently based at her clinic in Basingstoke.

How long does it take to heal?Healing takes between 5-7 days on average. You should not apply any makeup directly to the treated area during this time to avoid any infection. You can return to life as normal immediately after, there is no "down time". You may have some swelling and redness which can occur for the first 24 – 48 hours. Once the area is healed (after a week) the colour may be up to 70% lighter. Depending on the area treated, you will see the finished colour result in approximately four to six weeks. At this point you can book your free top up appointment.

What do I do after the procedure?Aftercare is a very important part of the process, so I will explain what to do and what not to do. I will also provide full written aftercare instructions and the required cleaning products for you to take home. It is best not to expose the area to too much direct sunlight for 14 days after your procedure as this can speed up the fading process. You should also avoid swimming pools, saunas and hot tubs for at least 7 days.
-
Should I pluck/wax my eyebrows before the procedure?Leading up to your appointment, you should avoid plucking, tweezing, threading, waxing or modifying your eyebrows in any way for as long as possible. This will allow me to create a custom brow design that compliments and blends in with your natural hair growth. This is particularly important if your brows fall into the 'over-plucked' category. That being said, I won't hold it against you if you just can't help yourself!

Why choose permanent makeup? The benefits of permanent makeup treatments include: Save time applying/removing temporary makeup each and every day! Help redefine sparse brows and lost hair due to ageing/illness/natural genetics. If you tend to over-pluck your brows and need a perfectly drawn template to guide you. It won't come off while exercising or swimming. If you struggle to apply makeup due to wearing glasses or poor eyesight. If you have sensitive, watery eyes or allergies to regular makeup. It can make you look younger by redefining lip pigment or sparse brows which can happen with age. It's very eco friendly - you won't use nearly as many plastic makeup containers and save on the carbon footprint that produces them. I also make every effort to source sustainable items to carry out your treatment where possible. If you find putting on and taking off makeup an absolute chore. If you are looking for a well earned boost to your confidence or enjoy looking your best. I could go on! The list really is quite endless. If you feel it might be just the thing you are looking for, please get in touch! I look forward to hearing from you.
